Christine’s story

“I nursed my mother through colorectal cancer early this year and was unable to get any help whatsoever through the night.

The strain of being sole carer for her, dealing with family and being awake 24 hours for several weeks resulted in my collapsing a week after she died – I would have joined her had the paramedics not saved my life.

I missed her funeral because at the time I was having emergency surgery.

A hospice at home service would have prevented my collapse, and would have resulted in better care for mother.”
