Lakelands Week 2014

got to dance winner lifting the trophy

Our rather adventurous trip around the UK doing the Three Peaks Challenge was only the beginning of a rather hectic week of fundraising madness for Lakelands Week 2014. We had a number of events throughout the week helping raise money and awareness – coming to an incredible total of £6,964.48!

Got to Dance Whilst some were climbing mountains to raise cash, others we're putting on their dancing shoes and giving their all for the Got to Dance 2014 trophy! Dancers from the age of 7 – 15 performed on the night, both in dance troupes and solo acts. There were fantastic performances, fantastic costumes and a fantastic atmosphere on the night. Thank you to Nene Valley Dance for organising the event, all the dancers who performed for us and to our Guest Judges – especially Mr Ryan Jenkins who travelled up from London to be the star of the evening!

Sukey's Hair Lounge also put on a fundraising afternoon of hair styling extravagence . They opened their salon at Howitts Court, Rockingham Road, for the first time on a Thursday and invited people in to have anything of their choice done to their hair – and just to make a donation to Lakelands for it! Sukey and her team made a wonderful £345 for the brilliant efforts – thank you.

There was also a Boxing Night at the Best Western is aid of us and a few other charities bringing us in a good amount, and Vicki-Louise Sherwin busked for us in the town centre, wowing the shoppers with her star-quality!

We at the hospice ran a Bingo and Quiz Night, Car Wash and Coffee Morning, Paws for a Cause dog walk (hosted by the Bluebell Inn, Gretton), a Jewellery and Pamper Evening and had a Fete Day at ASDA on the Friday as well as a box collection at Tesco. All in all, it was an absolutely AMAZING week, with everyone in the community really getting behind us and helping us to #MakeADifference. Thank you all.
