Opportunities at The Hospice

Bereavement Counsellor

Must be experienced and accredited to help develop and manage an effective Bereavement Service, sensitive to the needs of their client, families, carers and staff.

Complimentary Therapists

Experienced voluntary therapists who can offer complimentary therapies to patients attending the Hospice. Must be fully insured..

Musical Therapists

To provide a variety of musical entertainment, both background and sing-a-long style music for our patients to enjoy.

Administrator

To carry out administration tasks as set by the appropriate manager for the area concerned. Previous experience required. These tasks may include data entry, research and general administrative tasks.

Gardeners

General support to help maintain our vast Hospice grounds. No experience required, just enthusiasm and a love of the outdoors.

Craft skills

To help make craft items that can be sold at Fundraising events and in our retail shop (Lakelands Emporium). If you sew, knit, crochet, are a card maker, do embroidery, patchwork or have any craft skills you would like to share with other like-minded individuals, we would be interested in hearing from you.

DIY

To provide general maintenance service to the Hospice, maintaining internal and external fixtures and fittings. So, if you are a skilled tradesman, we would be interested in hearing from you.

Reception

To provide a front-line service of the Hospice, promoting effective communication between patients, staff, volunteers and visitors. Welcoming all patients and visitors into the Hospice, answering the telephone and ensuring that all calls are re-directed to the appropriate person.

Minibus Drivers

To transport our patients to and from the Hospice. Previous experience is required for this role, and applicants must have D1 on their driving licence and be under 70 years of age.

Minibus Host/Hostess

To support the Minibus Driver and collect our patients from their home, to enable them to have respite at the Hospice before returning them home. To ensure patients travel safely, provide companionship, and ensure our patients are comfortable whilst travelling.

Kitchen Support

To support our Cook, prepare salads and vegetables, serve patients their meals, wash up and help clean the kitchen.

Dayroom Host/Hostess

To provide patients refreshments throughout the day as well as companionship and conversation. Supporting patients in the day’s activities (arts and crafts, films, bingo, talks etc).

Please note that a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken on all volunteer roles within the hospice.
