Volunteering Opportunities

at the hospice

  • Handy People. Handy volunteers required in helping to set up events and dismantling afterwards which may involve general DIY skills & lifting.
  • Gardeners. We are looking for general support in our vast grounds.  No experience necessary, times to suit (Monday to Friday)
  • Minibus Drivers. We require 'holiday cover' volunteer minibus drivers to transport our patients to and from the Hospice. Ideally with previous experience, however full training with be given.  You must have D1 on your driving licence and be under 70 years old. 
  • Minibus Host/Hostess (Mondays and holiday cover).  To assist the minibus driver in collecting and returning patients from/to their homes. To ensure patients travel safely.  Provide companionship.  Be responsible for the hospice mobile telephone. It is vitally important that our patients feel confident and comfortable whilst on board our minibus. Morning shift is from 08.30 - 11.00am and the afternoon shift 3.20 - 5.00pm.  
  • Kitchen Support (holiday cover). To support our chef, prepare salads, wash up, set tables, serve food, help clean up the kitchen. We are looking for holiday cover Monday - Friday 11.30 - 1.30.  You dont have to cover every day, just when we need you and if you are free...
  • Day Room Host/Hostess (holiday cover). To provide patients with refreshments throughout the day. To ensure crockery is washed and areas maintained.  To provide companionship and conversation.  Support patients in the days activities, bingo, art & crafts, film, talks etc... Morning and afternoon shifts.
  • Full training will be given. For the roles of minibus, day room and kitchen support, individuals must agree to a DBS check and references.
